God-Inbreathed

By Oscar M. Baker

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God." No doubt Paul had in mind all Scripture written up to this time. That then would include the Bible as we have it today except 2 Timothy, which he was writing. We have no doubt about it also being inspired. We do not include the Apocrypha, for it was introduced along with the LXX, not in the Hebrew Scriptures.

Believing In Him - John 3:16

By Oscar M. Baker

"Whosoever believeth in Him ... not perish, but have everlasting life." Note the alternatives. They are perish ... everlasting life.

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36). Again there are alternatives.

Resurrection and Salvation

By Oscar M. Baker

Both these terms are generally misunderstood because of traditions of men. And these sayings of men are more or less founded on the lie of Gen. 3:4, "Ye shall not surely die." And from this came the doctrine of the immortality of the soul. So then resurrection is not really needed, and salvation has come to mean avoiding the punishments and tortures in hell for sins.

God the Holy Spirit

By Oscar M. Baker

The great commission of the kingdom age (Matt 28:19) included baptizing in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost (Spirit). The word name is in the singular, not plural. So Father is not a name. Son is not a name. Holy Spirit is not a name. But there is a name that includes all three. Do you know that name? It is the name that is given to Jesus (Ph'p. 2:8-11). It is first mentioned in Psalms 7:17. It is Jehovah Elyon (Jehovah, the most high God). That is the name of the one individual which consists of three persons.

Change

Change

By George Feldman

One of the many wonders of nature is the change that can be seen in the lowly, unattractive caterpillar transformed into a beautiful creature such as is seen in the Monarch butterfly. To the student of zoology this is known as a metamorphosis. This word, which is practically a carryover from Greek vocabulary, is found in the New Testament.

Identification #2

By Oscar M. Baker

1. Crucified with Christ. "I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, Who loveth me, and gave Himself for me"

(Gal. 2:20). Paul's life is entwined with that of Christ. This is identification.

The Mystery Announced

By Oscar M. Baker

Up to the great divorce of Acts 28:25-28, both spiritual and material blessings had to do with the earth, the land that was promised to Abraham and to his descendants. Even the New Jerusalem comes down to the earth to be inhabited by a chosen people. Among those will be Abraham and those who are children of the promise made to Abraham.

Children

Children

By George Feldman

On one occasion the Lord taught His followers a lesson using children as an object lesson. A dispute had arose between His disciples as to who would be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. "And Jesus called a little child unto Him, and set him in the midst of them, and said, Verily I say unto you, except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.  Whosoever, therefore, shall humble himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven" (Matt. 18:2-4).

What is the Hope of His Calling?

By Oscar M. Baker

Before we can tell what the hope is, we will have to settle the question of His calling, what it is and where it is. Then, whatever that may be and wherever it may be, will tell us what the hope of our calling is. For those that are in Christ are identified with Him very closely. In fact, this is their baptism. So now for the context.

Picture Talk

Picture Talk

By George Feldman

Our picture is symbolical in every sense the word. It does not depict any geographical location in particular, or any specific event in history. But the predominant mood is one of devastation and hopelessness, except for the hope offered from heaven. The war ravaged buildings silhouetted against the fires and billowing smoke of the city seem to characterize this 20th century with all its bloodshed and man's inhumanity to man. Peace is a scarce item.

Death and Resurrection

By Oscar M. Baker

"For Thou wilt not leave my soul in hell: neither wilt Thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption."

This is a difficult verse for the orthodox. Seeing that they have the wrong notion of hell, they are at a loss as to how to explain this. But they usually manage to explain it away, as they do so many passages which do not agree with their creeds. Hell here is simply the grave, or you might say, the dust of the earth. And the first part of the statement would well apply to David, the speaker. But it is the last part that causes the difficulty. For David has seen corruption and was still in the grave or hell as late as A.D. 29, for Peter in Ac 2:27,31 quotes this very passage to prove that it is the Lord, not David, who has been raised.

The Word of Truth for Today 6

By Joseph L. Watkins

"God our Saviour ... will have all men to be saved, and (He also desires that all SAVED MEN) to come unto the knowledge of The Truth." 1 Tim. 2:3,4

In our own feeble way we are doing what we can to help other men reach this end, to come "unto" the knowledge of The Truth for Today. We also greatly desire to help other saints to learn the art of 'Dividing The Word of Truth' - RIGHTLY.
