Tape Gems - The Mystery, What and When #2

By Oscar M. Baker

[The material covered in the last article was on, what is the Mystery as found in Eph.3:9&10; Eph.1:9&10, and Eph. 3:6. Then these questions were addressed: When was the Mystery first planned? When was it first announced? When did this Mystery start? Then continuing on…]

Who were the charter members? Eph. 2:11-19, that’s speaking particularly here about the first members, both Jews and Gentiles being joined together and started this membership. Have any more been added since? 2 Tim. 4:17, “…that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear…”. Paul was still preaching up until the very last. And there are still people being added. Titus 2:11, “For the grace of God…hath appeared to all men”. In Titus 2:12 we have the walk of the Church, and the hope in Titus 2:13---the appearing in glory.

Ephesians 3:10, Further Explained:
We’re working on Ephesians the third chapter, and wrestling around with that 10th verse, which is an amazing thing! In fact that puzzled me for a long time. I couldn’t see the ins and outs of it, that this Church which is the Body of Christ will be making known the manifold wisdom of God to the inhabitants of the heavenly places. Just about more than my mind could handle for awhile. It’s a little bit like our righteousness. Yes, we stand in righteousness before God, but it’s not ours. We are clothed upon with the righteousness of Christ---it’s imputed. And so we have something like that in this place here. The church which is the Body of Christ is not perfect morally and otherwise until resurrection, but all the possibilities are there. Everything is spoken of as being now which is certain in resurrection. An example of that is when the Lord was talking about resurrection, and He spoke of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Well now Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are dead, but you see He spoke of them as living because of the certainty of the resurrection. And so here the certainty of the resurrection, and the part that the Church will play in the affairs of the heavenly places, these principalities, powers, mights and dominions are learning this. And it shows to them the manifold wisdom of God. I can’t explain it in any other way. Maybe that will give you something to think about.

The Mystery In Ephesians 3:
“How that by revelation He made known unto me the mystery, that by the Spirit the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ by the gospel.”
